Equal Payment Plan
Manage your budget with a predictable monthly utility bill by using the Equal Payment Plan. With Equal Payments, your monthly utility bill will remain the same for a 12 month period and then reset. There will be no more bill fluctuations from month-to-month based on the change in the weather, whether hot or cold. This plan is offered to qualified residential homeowners who meet the eligibility requirements below:
- Must be a residential account in the name of the property owner who resides there.
- The account must have been active and in service for at least 12 months.
- The account must have had no late payments in the last 12 months, and the account balance
must be zero at the time of enrollment.
How does Equal Payment Plan work?
The cost of your account’s prior 12 months of services for electricity, natural gas, water, sewer, garbage, and security lights are added together, and then divided by 12 to get a monthly average. Your monthly Equal Payment will be this 12-month average for utility services plus any additional monthly charges such as cable TV, Internet, or phone. That’s your Equal Payment Plan that you will pay for the next 12 months until the program resets once per year.
There is no true-up or final balance due so long as you remain in the program. At the end of 12 months on the same Equal Payment, your account balance, whether it is positive or negative, is rolled forward into the calculation of the Equal Payment for the next 12 months.
You may cancel your enrollment in the program at any time by paying the account to a zero balance. Once cancelled, you are not eligible to enroll in the program for another 12-month period.
Elberton Utilities reserves the right to cancel the Equal Payment Plan for any account holder who makes partial payments or who misses an equal monthly payment. Then, normal billing will resume and the account balance outstanding will be due.
